25 Mar Spring Cleaning: Get Clean, Feel Serene (and savor a sweet reward)!
At Jolly Llama, we delight in all things that bring balance, peace, love, and clean treating joy. That doesn’t necessarily mean finding the secret to full-time enlightenment. For many of us, it can be as simple as staying put– surrounded by a clean and organized space.
Not to mention, any excuse to reap the dairy free reward of Jolly Llama’s delicious enlightenment is something we definitely feel is worthwhile.
Messy Ways, Messy Days
Clean is definitely our thing, so we can’t help but notice when surroundings seem to be a mess, life can seem that way too. And when that living space is clutter-free, let the anxious melt away and happy contentment take its place. You’re not weird. And if you’ve ever binged “Tidying Up” you’re definitely not alone.
Several studies have shown a link between an organized environment and an enhanced mood. These same studies also have shown that those with messy homes were on average more anxious, helpless, and overwhelmed.
And there’s no peace, love and joy in that.
A well-organized and clean space can create a sense of accomplishment, happiness, serenity, and clarity. It can be a place where family members get along better, grow together, and thrive together.
Is anybody else on board? If so, then we’ve got some useful Spring Cleaning Tips to share with you.
Make Time to Shine
First, don’t be overwhelmed by the tasks that lay ahead of you. Set aside 20-30 minutes a day and tackle one room at a time. If you set out to do the whole house in one day, you might paralyze yourself into never lifting a finger.
Next, declutter each room/ space you enter. Arrange two piles: one for donations, and one to toss. You’ll quickly learn that minimalism is very enlightening. In fact, a study by Havas Worldwide showed that 50% of us could live happily without most of the things we own. Let that sink in for a minute…
Douse the House
Spring cleaning isn’t about surface cleaning. It’s about getting down with the nitty gritty and cleaning the dirt and grime that often gets overlooked. Have you seen those baseboards? What about those blinds? Dust accumulates a lot over six months…
Other areas that could probably use a good scrub down include: light fixtures/ceiling fans, walls, air vents, the refrigerator, oven, hallway, door trims, high shelving, windows, etc.
Have a few trouble areas? Try these simple DIY cleaning solutions to efficiently clean the oven, carpet, mildew/scum from the bathtub, and other tough areas.
Maintain to Stay Sane
The trick to KEEPING the house clean after your spring cleaning, is STAYING on top of it– this way things won’t accumulate and pile up.
Consistency is key. Just 15-30 minutes a day is all it takes. You may even want to download a cleaning checklist, and tackle a new space each day of the week. Click here for a variety of cleaning checklists and sheets to choose from.
Some other useful tips to maintaining a clean house are:
